The penultimate round of the George Tooke Shield saw the Boorowa Rovers seal a top-three position in the semi-finals and with it, the all-important double chance should they falter in the first week. It’s not a chance they want to use, but it’s an ace that’s handy to have up their sleeve.

Boorowa were never really troubled by the Grizzlies as they shot out to a 26-6 halftime lead. The second stanza was much tighter with just one try each scored for a final score line of 32-12. The best result apart from the win was that the team still remains relatively injury free which will be crucial in the big games ahead.
Best for the Rovers was Ryan Foley with three points following another classy display. Two points went to Michael McNamara who continues to torment the opposition forwards and one point went to Matt Batt who consistency is outstanding. Ryan Foley also picked up the players player award.
Boorowa 32: Tries to Ryan Foley 3, Trent Garrett 1, Daniel Roberts 1, Tom Tuckerman 1, 4 Goals to Andrew Burns beat UC Grizzlies 12.
The ladder sees Crookwell 30, Harden 27, Boorowa 27, North Canberra 24, Binalong 21, Bungendore 16, UC Grizzlies 13 Boomanulla 10 ADFA 10 Gunning 6
This weekend’s final round sees all games having no real bearing on the final finishing ladder table. ADFA take on the Bungendore Tigers, Gunning host Crookwell, Binalong host Harden with the possibility that these teams may well meet in the finals at some stage while the same can be said in the match of the round between Boorowa and the North Canberra Bears.
The clash between Boorowa and the Bears will be intriguing. The Bears are one of only two teams to beat the Rovers but were extremely lucky to get that win way back in round two. This was the last time Boorowa lost but much has changed in the three months since. The Bears have had mixed form but will be formidable come finals time. They are the defending champs and won’t be easy.
It’s a massive last home game, so be there to wish both Boorowa teams all the best in their semi-final campaigns.
