For the second week in a row, the defence proud and ruthless Boorowa Rovers kept their opponents scoreless, this time putting ADFA to the sword in an 84-0 slaughter, keeping the chance of a first week home semi-final alive. Boorowa is equal with the Harden Hawks on competition points and needed a big win to gain an advantage on the Hawks.

However news soon came through that Harden had also recorded a massive 80-4 win over Gunning thus cancelling out most of the Rovers big win. Never the less, their are two big weeks ahead and a home semi in week one is still a remote possibility.
On a balmy winter’s day, the local crowd and visitors gathered in support of not only their teams, but to celebrate the annual ladies day. This year’s charity for ladies day was the very worthy Starlight Children’s foundation.
A significant amount was raised for the cause with a final tally of funds from the day and auction night to be released shortly. The local teams looked a picture in their purple strips especially made for the event and later auctioned off for the charity.
From the outset, the Rovers looked dominant, taking just four minutes before Justin Corkery score his first of his three tries in the opening half.
A highlight of one of these tries was a neat pass between the legs by Mick Hinds to Justin who scored out wide. Mick Hinds scored one himself after a strong run by Tom Tuckerman laid the ground work for an attacking raid.
The tries flowed steadily throughout the half with two more to try scoring freak Justin Corkery, Matt Batt, Mick Hinds again and Steven Death with skipper Josh Burns being the last to cross the stripe just before halftime.
The Rovers piled on eight tries in all to race to a 44-0 lead at the break and firmly had a ton in their sights.
In the second half the ADFA boys limited the damage by restricting Boorowa early on, however as fatigue set in again, the gaps began to widen and the flood gates started to open.
Trent Crawford was the first to cross followed by the rampaging bull, Tom Tuckerman.
Josh Carmody, Steven Death and Ryan Foley all crossed for tries, whilst the Super Sub Mitch Clarke made the most of his time on the park crossing for two late tries.
Andrew Burns found his radar with the goal kicking duties landing 10 goals with Daniel Roberts kicking one and Joseph “Golden Boots” Banks landing the other.
To ADFA’s credit, they did try hard being low on troops with just two reserves with clearly some talent amongst their ranks.
Fatigue though got the better of them and Boorowa showed little mercy on the struggling knights in the later part of each half.
Best for Boorowa was the Terrorising Tom Tuckerman who made some barnstorming runs and picked up the three points, Ryan Foley was all class in the backs taking 2 points as was Mick Hinds who took one point. Tom Tuckerman also picked up the players player award.

In other games last week Harden 80 smashed Gunning 4, Boomanulla 20 beat Binalong 0, Crookwell 26 beat Bungendore 6 and North Canberra 56 trounced the UC Grizzlies 6.
The top five is now determined but the finishing order is not. Crookwell can secure the minor Premiership with a win this week and Boorowa can secure a top three spot also with a victory.
Harden should account for Boomanulla and also get a double chance.
North Canberra can still make the top three but need Harden or Boorowa to lose twice. Binalong have secured fifth and will play in the elimination final regardless of their last two results.
With just two rounds left, the competition ladder looks this way, Crookwell 28, Harden 25, Boorowa 25, North Canberra 22, Binalong 21, Bungendore 16, UC Grizzlies 13, Boomanulla 10, ADFA 10, Gunning 6.
This weekend’s other matches will see cellar dwellers Gunning host ADFA with Gunning searching for their first win. Boomanulla host Harden, North Canberra host Bungendore whilst Crookwell are at home against Binalong.
