Seventy per cent of Boorowa residents say they are affiliated with a religion, despite an increase in the number of Australians who consider themselves non-religious, the 2016 Census has revealed.

Forty per cent, or 666 residents in Boorowa said they were Catholic, compared to only 22.6% of the national population.
26.7 per cent of residents identify as Anglican, 3.9% are affiliated with the Uniting Church, whilst 22.3 of the local population either have no religion or did not state a religion.
In terms of growth, Boorowa only saw a slight change with population of 1,641, compared to 1,619 in 2011.
The gender ratio is also fairly even, with 50.8% males and 49.2% females making up the population.
Boorowa’s population is also much older compared to the rest of NSW and Australia.
The average age in both NSW and the nation is 38.
The average age in Boorowa is 48.
Boorowa’s ageing population also makes up the largest percentage in the area, with 25.3% of people aged 65 years or older.
Children aged 0 - 14 years made up 16.6% of the population.
The Census data also shows that there are 428 families in Boorowa, compared to 425 in 2011, however the number of children per family has decreased slightly.
The average amount of children per family in 2011 was two, in 2016 it was 1.8.
The median weekly personal income for people aged 15 years and over in Boorowa (State Suburbs) was $560.
This is compared to NSW, which was $664 and Australia, which was $662.
The median weekly for a family in Boorowa was $1,407, approximately $350 less than the state and national median income.
Median household incomes were $973, compared to approximately $1,400 in NSW and nationally.
The percentage of children attending school in Boorowa was higher or on par with the state and national average.
In Boorowa, 26.8% of people were attending an educational institution. Of these, 27.5% were in primary school, 23.3% in secondary school and 12.3% in a tertiary or technical institution.
