I’m completely over it.
This issue has the potential to bring down a government, it has the potential to split a nation, but it does not seem to have the potential to produce sensible, rational thinking in our politicians.
I may have my knowledge of the birds and bees distorted, but my understanding is that a male and female of each species was put on this earth to procreate, to ensure the species continues on.
The marriage question may be vexing from a religious viewpoint who are very strong in their views, as are the ‘Rainbow Crowd’ – strong and vocal, irrespective, debate should be respectful, adhering to democratic values and people’s rights of free speech.
Avoiding the discrimination argument, can’t we simply change the wording to say something to the effect marriage is a union of consenting adults and leave it at that.
I mean to say, in this modern day and age, many simply get together without ceremony and move on with their lives.
It’s time for someone to take some initiative and solve this conundrum – now.

Frank Sinatra considered Kate Smith the best singer of her time, Kate being the darling of American radio.
In the 1940’s, America was still in terrible economic depression, Hitler was taking over Europe and Americans were afraid they’d have to go to war.
It was a time of terrible hardship.
This was the era just before TV, and radio shows were huge.
Families sat around their radios listening to their favourite shows, and no entertainer of the era was bigger than Kate Smith.
No one would leave the radio until she had sung.
Kate Smith was also big, a plus size and the popular phrase used today is deferred to her, “It ain’t over ‘til the fat lady sings.”
Kate was patriotic and she wanted to give America a song to lift the spirits of the people.
She went to famous American song writer Irving Berlin (writer of White Christmas, etc) asking him to write a song to make Americans feel good again about their country.
Going to his files, Berlin brought out a song he’d written 22 years previous.
In 1940, Kate Smith first sang this song, ‘God Bless America’.
With July 4, US Independence Day, having just passed, I bet this song got a huge workout.
Interestingly, neither Berlin nor Smith wanted any profits personally, all profits going to Boy Scouts of America.
Do the maths – Boy Scouts have received millions of dollars in royalties from this song.

People are becoming more conscious of their health and realizing exercise is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle.
A business man went to his doctor who lay it straight on the line, “What fits your busy schedule better, exercising one hour a day or being dead 24 hours a day?”
Dieting can be so hard, take this lady ordering with a waiter, “I’m going to order a broiled skinless chicken breast, but I want you to bring me Lasagna and garlic bread by mistake.”

Some strive for perfection, some don’t care.
We can all take something from these words:
“You don’t have to be positive all the time. It’s perfectly okay to feel sad, angry, annoyed, frustrated, scared or anxious. Having feelings doesn’t make you a negative person, it makes you human.” (Lori Deschene)
