At 7.35am, the call was put through to a woman named Lana Harris from Boorowa, who successfully picked up within three rings.
“Oh it can’t be! You’re joking,” exclaimed Ms Harris after being told by Sunrise presenters Samantha Armytage and Mike Amor that she had won the money.
“What will you do with $50,000?” Armytage asked.
“Oh look I couldn’t even begin to tell you, is this a joke?” Ms Harris asked again.
“No you’re live on TV, on Channel 7, right now,” newsreader Natalie Barr replied.
Ms Harris told Channel 7 that she would probably share the money with family members.
“I’ll probably share it with my two sons,” she said.
Sports presenter Mark Beretta then asked Ms Harris about her family.
“They’ve grown up now, they are 52 and 49 so they’re not young,” she said.
“We’re pensioners. We’re in Boorowa, we’ve got a few acres here and a few animals and that.
“It will be very handy because we’ve had drought and we are feeding the horses and some sheep.
“That’s amazing.”
Armytage then remarked on her connection to Boorowa, with her family growing up in the area.
“It’s a lovely spot, my mother grew up just down the road from Boorowa,” she said.
“God’s own country.”
“I couldn’t live in the city,” Ms Harris told the presenter.
“We will let you go and sink in… you enjoy that $50,000,” Armytage said.
