All his hard work and training has paid off as Corbyn Bomok returned from his first martial arts tournament for this year, the International Sport Karate Association (I.S.K.A.) Battle of Canberra held at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra over the weekend.

It’s great to be back on the competition floor.

Entering many events, Corbyn, the talented youngster from the small, rural town of Kingsvale, achieved a first in Traditional Forms, first in Point Sparring, first in Clash Sparring, second in Extreme Musical Weapons, second in Sumo, second in Sword Combat, and a third in Traditional Weapons.

His tremendous effort has earned him an immediate position in the Australian Titles Tournament which will be held in Sydney at the end of the year.

“It’s great to be back on the competition floor,” said the 8-year-old martial artist.

“I really enjoyed it.

“There were so many athletes like me competing and I enjoyed the challenge.

“I’m very proud of what I achieved and hope to do better in my next tournament.”

Corbyn’s mother, Christine, was present during the tournament.

“It’s fantastic to see my son’s face light up when entering the arena,” she said.

“He just comes alive on the tournament floor, ready to accept any challenge and never gives up. It’s priceless!”

“Corbyn was amazing!” His proud sister Evy said

“We came in with Dad and saw him in his last event and I was cheering with Lyla and Rych.

“Then Corbyn was announced the winner.

“It was the best!

“I love him so much and am happy he is my big brother.”

Corbyn will now train for upcoming tournaments and for the end of year major event.

“Thanks to everyone who continues to support me and wishes me well,” he said.

“I really appreciate it and hope you are enjoying my journey as much as I am.”
