Tommy Robertson born in Boorowa in 1934, attended School at St Joseph’s Convent from the early 1940's to 1946, before moving to Wagga. His father, a returned WW2 Serviceman, accepted a job as a Linotypeist with the Wagga Daily Advertiser.
Pre-war, Clarrie worked in the same capacity for the Boorowa News.
Tommy returned to Boorowa with his elder sister, Cecily and his first cousins, the Bourke clan in November 2015 for the Sesquicentennial Celebrations, a milestone for St Patrick's.
His memories of starting School with neighbours, John and Betty Ryan and the Church where he was baptised and confirmed, and the local Priest, Fr. John Morrison, who coached him in rugby league and cricket, containing two Grocott brothers, the Donohoe cousins and the Dwyer and Barton brothers. Fr John was a hard and trusted mentor, but what he learned from him laid to a very successful rugby league career, as player/Coach at Bathurst, representing Group 10.
Also player/Coach of Barmedman and was the original member and Captain of the newly formed Wagga Team, Turvey Park and finally becoming a member of The Men of League.
On leaving Secondary School, Wagga, Tommy learnt the carpentry trade.
Later years having his own building business at Wagga and Canberra.
Tommy will be sadly missed by his wife, Patricia, and extended families, his sister Cecily and the Bourke Families.
