I want to thank all of our RFS crews for their hard work and selfless action not only over the weekend, but consistently when our communities are in need.
When you consider the losses to property, land and stock that fellow Australians are currently enduring, we owe significant gratitude to our RFS volunteers and our Council crews, who are always placed on standby to report fire events and assist on days where a risk exists.
The Eastern area of the Hilltops was hit by two storms on Saturday.
Crews spent the weekend cleaning up damage and clearing trees on the Lachlan Valley Way, Rugby, Kenyu, Murringo, Little Plains, and Kenny’s Creek Roads.
Around Boorowa, crews worked alongside Essential Energy, with trees being caught up in power lines and severe damage being done to the shade cloths at the Playground and the Boorowa Pool.
The Western area worked through the night and into the next morning after the storm on Saturday.
Crews cleared timber off Murringo, Milvale, Murringo Gap, Telegraph, McDonells, Tubbul, Kurrawyba, and Schiller Roads.
On Sunday, crews were out again to work on Halls Lane, Ardnaree, Yanterilla, Belowra, Narellan and Thornhill Roads.
The Southern area had machinery on hand to create tracks, move fallen trees and supply water during the Black Range fires.
Three crews pushed fallen trees off local roads including Moppity, Peakview and the Kingsvale Roads.
The Salt Clay Road Fire near Cootamundra required our bulldozer to help move fallen trees.
We are so lucky to have such resources and skills available within the Hilltops region.
Again, thank you all.
