Mike Ward and the team at the Boorowa Hotel were given a signed jersey from the team, which will be proudly displayed in the pub.
Coming out here and seeing local rugby is amazing
- Sam Carter
Boorowa Goldies’ President Justin Fleming told the boys it was a very exciting experience to meet with the team.
“I just wanted to say thanks for pulling up, thanks for taking the time to stop here and say g'day to us,” he said.
“You are in Brumbies territory here, we’re very pleased to have you and we wish you all the best for the season.”
He then offered any of the players the opportunity to visit Boorowa and take part in a Goldies training session should they wish to visit the area again.
“One of the things we are known for, is that we foster and embrace the social side of the game very well,” Justin said.
“So if any of you blokes fancy a trip back to Boorowa at any stage to attend one of our training sessions there will sure to be a beer or two in it for you.”
Brumbies Captain Sam Carter said it was an honour to be able to visit regional areas with a strong focus on rugby.
“Coming out here and seeing local rugby is amazing and we have been really looking forward to this trip,” he said.
The team was on their way to Mudgee to play a trial game against the NSW Waratahs before the Super Rugby season.
Unfortunately the result wasn’t in the Brumbies favour, going down to the Waratahs 53-17.
Scrumhalf Tomas Cubelli will also have an anxious wait after suffering a knee injury during the game.
The team will now head to Queensland for the inaugural Brisbane 10’s tournament.
