The Boorowa Gators featured in another thriller on the weekend, but once again fell short of gaining the competition points going down by 18 runs to Murrumbateman. Set just 124 for victory the Gators didn't capitalise on a good bowling effort being rolled in reply for 105.

The Gators bowled first and never let the Murrumbateman batsmen get out of control. The visitors struggled to 5/76 after the first 20 overs and were dismissed in the 34th over for 123. Wicket takers for Boorowa were Mitch Clarke 3/23, Murray Armour 2/24, Anthony McMahon 1/16, Tom Carnell 2/31 and Shane “Doug Walters” Cross 2/0. It was a solid effort that should have set up a victory.
Boorowa openers Anthony McMahon and Chris McIntosh began steadily before the first wicket went down on 18. Murray Armour came in and made his intentions clear hitting a massive six before he perished on 18. Shane Cross was solid in the middle order with 22 but with regular wickets falling Boorowa slid to a precarious 7/77. When Cooper Cross joined a hamstrung Mick Canellis with the score at 9/97 there was still some hope but it wasn't to be with the final wicket falling on 105.
It was a far cry from the week before when the Gators demolished the Yass Golf Club Colts in a seven wicket win. A classy 64 by Mick Canellis set up the win with good support from Anthony McMahon 41 and Chris McIntosh 34 Not Out. It took the Gators just 27 overs to run down the Colts score of 179. Mick Canellis had a day to remember as he backed up the batting by taking 5/34.
The Gators biggest enemy at the moment is consistency. They have the ability but must string some consecutive wins together.
On a disappointing note, the Crocs had to forfeit after a shortage of players on Saturday.
Both sides are running about mid table at the moment and really need a win before going into the Xmas break.
The Crocs are at home for the first time in a few weeks against Yass Gold Club Taipans whilst the Gators take on Binalong at Binalong who will also be desperate for a win.
It is the last game of 2016 so be sure to join the teams on Saturday night for a Xmas drink or two at the Courthouse hotel. See you at bay 13 to watch the Crocs go around on Saturday arvo.
