I don’t think that this clock has shown the correct time for over two months.
Every time there is a power outage the clock, being electrically operated, stops, and then starts again when the power returns.
To reset the correct time the power must be turned off at the electrical box at the War Memorial, and turned on again when the time showing on the clock comes around.
The clock was showing the incorrect time during the Woolfest, which is run on a time schedule.
Having an incorrect time showing on the Town Clock does not create a very good impression to the hundreds of visitors who flocked, excuse the pun, to the town for this annual event.
However, my main concern was when the clock was showing an incorrect time on Remembrance Day, when it is traditional to have a minute’s silence at 1100 hours.
I attended the service at the War Memorial on Remembrance Day, and as a Vietnam Veteran was most upset, when at 1100 hours, if I remember correctly, the clock was showing 0945 or thereabouts.
It does not create a very good impression to visitors or motorists passing through to see a Town Clock showing the incorrect time.
