They have an election at which about 50% of the voters vote for one candidate in an election that only about 66% of the eligible people to vote actually vote.
Logically speaking, 50% of the voters didn’t get the candidate they voted for so what do they do …. they riot and protest.
Unbelievable!
Surely in a democracy you accept the majority rule, the result.
Then again, hypothetically speaking, you can take your bat and ball and go home and consider anarchy.

People say Donald Trump’s plan to build a wall to keep the Mexicans out won’t work …… the Chinese built one over 2000 years ago and they still don’t have Mexicans.

Last Friday, Nov 18, I was privileged to adjudicate the Annual Boorowa Central School Public Speaking Competition.
Twenty seven speakers from Queanbeyan, Goulburn, Molong, Grenfell, Harden and Boorowa spoke brilliantly on a variety of topics entertaining and informing the audience.
It is great to see these young people improving themselves and developing a skill they’ll have for life, with the only downer being the fact only three boys participated.
Twenty seven speakers and, without doubt, twenty seven winners, a fact my fellow adjudicator Chloe Carey nee Croker attested to.
I can recall adjudicating Chloe at this very competition some years back.
Chloe now has a remarkable high profile public relations position, a true example of how involving yourself in public speaking can lead to skills utilized later in life.

Only last week I said the roses tell us Spring is here, why not then the weather?
Well the weather has definitely warmed telling us Summer is very close, the roses still look sensational and we should see more people enjoying their coffee or a meal alfresco like the people in this week’s photograph.

A parish priest was a mad keen golfer and on a young priest being appointed to his parish, he saw this as a chance to play more often.
He left the young priest to do the Sunday mass and took himself off to treat himself to a round of golf.
To avoid being recognized he chose to play at a course in an adjoining town.
God looked down on this and said to St Francis, “This is outrageous, he must be punished.”
The priest, enjoying his round, came to a 485 metre par five hole.
With a sweet swing the ball flew off the club, travelled true and straight, landed short of the green and rolled up and into the cup for a miraculous hole in one.
“I thought you were going to punish him,” said St Francis to God.
“I have,” replied God.
“But you just gave him a remarkable hole in one,” retorted St Francis.
‘And he’ll never be able to tell anyone!” was God’s reply.

I ran into former local girl Kylie Gruber last weekend and she told me how much she enjoyed reading the column and liked the fact that it remained thought provoking and balanced in the views expressed.
This was lovely to hear but let me leave you with a quote that surely will divide the nation:
