The Gators scored a crushing ten wicket win over the Royal Pirates in the first game at home this season whilst the Boorowa Crocs were made to work a little harder for their three wicket win over Binalong at Binalong.
The Gators had a very short day bundling the Royal Pirates out for just 83 in 18 overs mainly through the efforts of medium pacer Tom Carnell who ripped the Pirates apart with a devastating spell of 6/28.
The Pirates began well enough being 0/38 before big Tom cast a spell over the hapless Pirates batting line up.
In reply, the Gators openers savaged the Pirate bowlers, taking just 12 overs to knock off the target and head for an early day.
Mark Poplin was brutal with an unbeaten 57 including ten fours and one six in a stylish display.
Anthony McMahon scored 21 not out as he took in the Poplin show at the other end.
Bay 13 has barely emptied the top row of the esky and the match was over.
At least they will have plenty of supplies on hand as the Crocs play at home this weekend.
The Crocs lost the toss and bowled first for the second week in a row against Binalong.
Chris Dwyer and Nick Dwyer bowled well early and Binalong were in all sorts of trouble at 4/18.
The recovered in the middle overs to reach 6/72 at the halfway stage of their innings.
Some stubborn resistance from their tail eventually saw Binalong scramble to 125 in 32 overs which gave Boorowa something to think about.
Wicket takers for the Crocs were
Chris Dwyer 2/13,
- Nick Dwyer 2/19,
- Cameron Johnston 2/5,
- Byron Campbell 1/6,
- James Green 1/17
- Alex Blomfield 1/22.
In reply, Boorowa struggled early also, being 3/6 in the fifth over.
The middle order
- Chris Dwyer 43,
- Cameron Johnston 45
- Blake Anderson 18
dug Boorowa out of a huge hole to reach 4/103 and it looked as though they were cruising.
However a mini collapse saw them plummet to 7/113 and the bowlers seemed like they were throwing hand grenades.
However mr cool himself, Kyle Banks, played an anchor role with Nick Dwyer to get the team home.
Under pressure, Kyle lifted a drive over the infield for the winning runs. It wasn't the prettiest of victories but sometimes these wins are the most precious wins.
Coming up
This week the Crocs have their first home game against the powerful Gundaroo line up in what will be a real test.
