That was a few years back, things have improved, but are by no means perfect.
The University of Canberra, in collaboration with Deakin University and Ryerson University (Canada), is conducting a research project to identify issues faced by rural residents in their use, or non use, of the internet.
As online participation becomes more problematic with governments adopting ‘digital first’ as their primary service delivery mode and more customers online, many regional areas are finding frustration with the limitation of access to high speed internet or mobile connectivity.
The University of Canberra want to hear from businesses and community members including farmers, small business and professionals wanting to share their experiences (and frustrations) with the research team.
Interviews in Boorowa are scheduled for Monday 7, Tuesday 8 and Wednesday, November 9 for one on one or more if you so choose. To book, contact Hilltops Council Boorowa Office on 6380 2000 by Thursday, November 3.
There have been many sessions aiming to move regional communication along, don’t make this just another one.
If you’ve got thoughts, ideas or experiences regarding local communication, talk to the research team, it can’t hurt.

Amazing. What other word describes the organizational capabilities of the team that put on the Touch/Netball Carnival.
A Canberra visitor told me she was in awe of the logistical organization for this carnival, which was much much bigger than she had envisaged, this being her first visit.
With the parking limited at the Showground due to the wet, I can only describe the number of cars parked from Market Street to Scott Street, Parnell to Pudman Street as unbelievable.
To get the people there, get them parked and to provide a great day of sport was a real challenge, but it is a testament to the professionalism, determination and resilience of the organisers and their team of volunteers who face the challenge and say nothing is impossible and just do it.

Reids Flat Gymkhana and Rodeo is on Saturday November 5 from 8.30am. I say this every year on ‘Through the Streets’ on 2LF, I’ll say it again.
This is a terrific day with horse events, utes, music, fun events and just about something for all. Not only is it a great day, the drive out is very picturesque. Go out through Frogmore and back via Taylors Flat Road. Give this one a go, you might just love it.

November signals the end of the year is nigh. It also signals we need to take some time to reflect on the year and attempt to identify Boorowa’s finest achievers.
Time is on us to seek nominations for Lions/Apex Citizen of the Year, Rotary Young Achiever and our sporting champions in the categories of Open, 18 & Under, 12 & Under, team of the year and Club Person.
The Australia Day Committee seeks nominations for achievers who may not be quite up for Citizen of the Year but still deserve recognition.
