They may not be from across the ditch but Boorowa Central School Year 10 students Travis Rauchenberger, Milli Smith and Morgan Liddle represented Boorowa at the Rotary Nationals of the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA).

Now in it’s 20th year and held in the House of Representives in Old Parliament House, MUNA saw 75 debaters from 28 different schools attend the prestigious event.
BCS MUNA coach Debra Eustace said it was the school’s eighth time competing.
“We are always honoured to represent the Boorowa community,” she said.
The students had their work cut out for them, researching and preparing 18 UN resolutions over months of lunch times.
The six resolutions that were chosen on the Friday night through bloc negotiations for debate over Saturday and Sunday were; the Death Penalty, Nuclear Disarmament, Climate Change, situation in Myanmar for the Rohingya people, situation in Ukraine between Russia and Ukraine and the problems in the South China Sea.
Mrs Eustace was very impressed by the way the students worked incredibly well as a supportive team and particularly the courage Morgan showed when she directly debated and had a go at discrediting the lines of argument brought up by countries like China and India.
In the lead up to the competition the students also visited the New Zealand High Commission in Canberra to learn from a local Maori group, who sang a Maori welcome and taught the team many interesting cultural facts including the background of the 'nose' kiss.
The Boorowa team won the Model United Nations Assembly Cultural Awareness award, for representing their country in authentic Maori clothes loaned to them by the Tumanako Kapa Haka group.
