Crookwell Green Devils Eliminated
The first week of the George Tooke finals saw Crookwell’s season come to an abrupt end at the hand of the Gunning Roos who beat the Green Devils by 28-10. The Roos have been on a roll of late and on the back of their forwards never really looked like losing.
In the major semi-final the North Canberra Bears downed Bungendore Tigers by 42-20 in a convincing win.
In e league tag, the Harden Hawkettes had a good win by 20-16 over Crookwell whilst in the other Semi Boomanulla 32 beat Gunning 16.
This Saturday at 3.15pm the Unbeaten Harden Hawks take on North Canberra Bears at McLean oval in Harden with the winner advancing to the grand final. The Hawks have looked the goods all season and should account for the Bears. Perhaps the only worrying aspect is the two week layoff for the Hawks. Hawks by 12.
In the minor semi Bungendore play the Gunning Roos in what should be a close match at 1.30. On their day Bungendore can match it with any team and will start favourites. However, Gunning has been on a roll and an upset would not surprise. Bungendore by 6.
In the league tag, the Harden Hawkettes take on Bungendore Tigerettes in the major semi at 12.15 whilst Crookwell Shedevils take on Boomanulla in the minor semi at 10.55am.
It promises to be a great day of rugby league at McLean Oval with four big games.
Off the field, don't forget the Boorowa Rovers presentation night on Saturday September 10 at the Ex-Services Club commencing at 6pm. There's live entertainment and plenty of fun to be had as we honour the seasons best.
Best of luck to all those junior players from Boorowa and Harden who are participating in the various grand finals this weekend. You've done yourselves and your towns proud.
Sand boy.
