Senior Constable Randall O’Brien said there had been numerous reports of damage throughout the town.
“Last Friday and early Saturday morning, Boorowa was subjected to a mindless idiotic rampage of violent attacks on property,” he said.
“Numerous fences destroyed, numerous cars attacked with star pickets being speared through windows, rocks and bottles thrown through house windows, street signs damaged and also thrown through a house window.”
Constable O’Brien said the majority of victims were elderly residents.
“At least 17 separate incidents of malicious damage occurred, leaving many elderly victims frightened and financially affected,” he said.
“Police and many residents are furious at this disgusting behaviour, with investigations well underway.
“Information has already been supplied to police with several good leads identified.”
Constable O’Brien said a birthday party was held in the vicinity of much of the damage.
“There is no evidence that any of the invited guests of this party were involved in causing the damage and obviously, the vast majority were well behaved,” he said.
“It is a possibly however that the offenders were attracted to the party.
“Therefore police are requesting anyone who was at the party or that have children that went to the party, and may have some information, please let the police know.
“This behaviour is unacceptable and police need help of the wider decent community to bring the offenders to justice.
“Any information will be treated in the strictest of confidence,” he said.
