The mighty Boorowa under 10s secured a place in the group nine grand final with a nail biting, come from behind victory over Junee, 20-18. T
he locals started slowly and trailed early by six points before Jacob Cayfe powered over to level the scores at halftime.
Boorowas lethargy in the first half continued after the break and the home side skipped away to lead 18-6 early and an upset seemed on the cards.
The Boorowa side was not about to give up and finally started to wake from their slumber with some powerful charges through the middle.
Harvey Gay took it upon himself to lead the side to victory and one of his busting charges combined with an amazing offload saw Josh Craig streak away to narrow the gap to 20-12.
With Dan Canellis scheming at first receiver it wasn't long before the pacy Lucas Cayfe dived over to narrow the gap to 20-16.
With time running out and the crowd on the edge of their seats the pressure was mounting on both sides.
After a disastrous start to the game Josh Karchinsky fought back well and was rewarded when he backed up a beautiful passing movement and crashed over under the posts to put Boorowa into the lead with five minutes left on the clock.
Some desperate defending from the Bushrangers saw them repel numerous Junee raids before Archie Gay was able to dive on a loose ball, with only a minute left on the clock to seal the victory.
After a very slow start all the players came alive in the latter stages, with Josh Dean and Ella Cross both outstanding from dummy half while the Cayfe boys, Dan Canellis and Harvey Gay really worked themselves to a standstill to secure the win.

Boorowa Men's Golf
By Roger Green
Here's hoping you were all able to make use of the wonderful weather that Boorowa turned on for us last weekend.
With the golf course looking a picture, local golfers took advantage of conditions and competed for the Andrew McGrath trophy. This event was played as a stroke competition.
The successful winner was Robert Dunwoodie with net 66 while runner-up with net 68 came Greg Atkins. Ball comp winners , all with net 69, were Anthony Walters, Michael Tuckerman and Phillip Johnston.
Also, just a reminder that the stroke play championship has begun.
Therefore could first round matches be completed as soon as possible? Next Saturday, August 20, the Brett Watts Stroke trophy is scheduled for competition,so let's hope for another fine day to welcome golfers on to the course.
George Tooke Semi’s Approach
By Sandboy
The George Tooke semi-finals match ups were finalised after the last round of the regular season last weekend.
The results saw North Canberra slaughter a hapless Braidwood side 76-0. Harden inflicted similar pain on ADFA 66-0. Bungendore 30 beat Crookwell 22 whilst Gunning sneaked into the semis with a win over Boomanulla 34-28.
The final ladder saw Harden finish minor premiers on 33 followed by North Canberra 30, Bungendore 27, Gunning 18, Crookwell 16, Boomanulla 15, Braidwood 12, ADFA 9 and Boorowa 8.
Gunning Roos take on the Crookwell Green Devils in the minor semi in a match that could go either way. Gunning have the momentum at the right end of the season and should prove a little too strong in this do or die clash.
North Canberra Bears take on Bungendore Tigers in the major semi and after a demolition of Braidwood, last week should prove too strong for Bungendore who at times have been inconsistent. The winner will progress to the major semi-final against Harden on Saturday week. The loser will live to fight another day.
Don’t forget the Rovers night of nights is on September 10 at the Ex-Services Club when the annual presentation of awards will take place. Don’t miss out on this great evening.

NSW Sports Shear
Local boys Ben Gorham and Wil Stanley have had the huge honour of being selected in the NSW Sports Shear team which will compete at the Warialda Nationals in October 2016. Ben was selected in the Senior Shearing category while Wil was selected in the Novice/Learner category. This is a massive achievement and huge effort by both of the boys! Both have had good seasons so far this year on the Sports Shear circuit with Ben taking out first place at Gunning and at Yass and he placed second at the Dubbo Show which meant that he qualified second in the NSW Team. A massive effort by Ben who just keeps getting better and better. Wil also took out first place at Gunning and at Yass and made selectors sit up and take notice when he took out first at the Dubbo Show. Wil is only 16 years old and still at school! Well done Ben and Wil.
We wish both the boys the best of luck at Warialda.
