Their opponents in the final were Peter Watts and John Dymock, by no means a pairing to be sneezed at, and that is how it panned out with Peter and John prevailing by one shot, 21 – 20.
A small crowd witnessed some sensational bowls seeing Peter and John quickly of the mark with a 5 – 0 lead, but from the 4th end on the Grimsons led up until a calamitous 18th end.
After leading 18 – 13 after 17 ends, the Grimson pairing dropped seven shots on the 18th to trail 20 – 18. Peter and John picked up a further shot on the 19th end taking them to 21. Two singles on the last two ends weren’t enough for Des and Chris leaving Ex-Services Club with new champions in Peter Watts and John Dymock.
Congratulations to Peter and John on the win, the contest contained some bowls of the highest quality resulting in an amazing final.
