Nice is the latest scene of such an atrocity with 84 people, including 10 children, dying while out enjoying France’s national day, Bastille Day.
Eighty four deaths, but with so many more critically injured, a toll that will surely rise.
All this when people are out on the streets , enjoying fireworks and generally having a good time as you would expect on a national day of celebration.
France seems to be a focal point of attention for terrorists, but they are not alone, and worldwide countries need to ramp up security concerns and necessary vigilance, taking every step to secure their country against these radical elements intent on delivering death and misery to peace loving nations.
Unfortunately this is not the last time we’ll hear our government officials expressing their feelings of sympathy to countries experiencing unnecessary loss.
Mark my words, Australia has been reasonably lucky to date, but as has been said before, it is not a matter of if, but when similar messages of sympathy are flowing into our country.
We can only pray Australia never faces these acts of heinous brutality but our government faces huge challenges to prevent it.

Boy oh boy, hasn’t the greyhound situation created a furore, and, I must say, hasn’t it been badly handled, from a flawed report to an ill conceived notion there would be no great impact on the lives of many honest, hardworking people and the economy of NSW.
The impact goes way beyond greyhound enthusiasts affecting producers of feed, supplements, transport facilities, trophy manufacturers and suppliers and much much more.
Lives so affected that I’m told many businesses face going to the wall.
We get our dog meat from J & L Pet Supplies in Young and Len told me their turnover could drop by as much as $100,000 per year.
He added that his supplier also supplies meat for Western Plains Zoo and that if greyhound racing goes, the Zoo would not have enough call to keep his business viable.
This is but one story, you’ll hear many more.
What is probably scarier is this growing vocal minority, call them do gooders if you wish, but this minority is determining how the majority live. Maybe the majority are too apathetic, but time has come to say enough is enough.

Consider this, when greyhounds go does this loud minority attack horse events, fishing, dog events, etc? Maybe they’d better attack Rugby Union and League, gee, boys tackle boys and men, men.
Cricket, that ball is dangerous. Better wrap everyone up in cotton wool. Oh no! They might smother.

Finally, maybe it’s come to this:
“It does not take a majority to prevail …… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting bushfires of freedom in the minds of men.” (Samuel Adams)
