Whilst Gunning certainly deserved the two points, the game produced several dubious refereeing calls that cost the visitors any change of victory.
Both coaches looked on in disbelief at some of the calls including one try scored by Gunning over the dead ball line.
However full credit must go to Gunning who have been the big improvers in the competition and now have their eye on a potential semi-final berth.
Try scorers for the Rovers were Josh Carmody, whilst Justin Corkery picked up his second in seven days.
Last Saturday's game was a physical encounter with both forward packs looking to gain the upper hand. Matt Black was again the pick of the forwards getting the three points.
Josh Carmody is looking more comfortable in his role picking up two points whilst Mitch Clarke put in yet another impressive performance to get one point. The Fabstock player award went to Mitch Clarke whilst the Players’ player went to the tireless worker, Matt Batt.
In other results last weekend, Bungendore 38 beat ADFA 6; Braidwood 30 defeated Crookwell 16, whilst in the match of the round Harden 20 beat North Canberra 18 in what could be a grand final preview. Boomanulla had the bye.
This week the Rovers return home after a tough three weeks on the road. They have a three week home stint beginning with a tough match against the North Canberra Bears at 2.30 pm on Saturday.
The Bears are coming off a narrow loss and won't take the Rovers lightly at home.
Boorowa put in a solid effort against the Bears in round one and will be keen to impress on home soil.
In other games this weekend Gunning look to continue their good form against ADFA, Braidwood host the undefeated Harden Hawks whilst the match of the round could well be Crookwell against Boomanulla which may well decide a semi-final spot. Bungendore have the bye.
In other news, ladies day is rapidly approaching on July 9 with loads of fun and entertainment planned for the big day. The Rovers are happy to announce a very special guest for the day, Colin Frazer, who is a former NRL star for St. George playing several seasons for the Red V in the 80’s.
Later in the evening there will be a huge auction of a range of items such as signed Raiders merchandise, winery tour for two, Rovers playing kit and all of the player’s jerseys for the day via a silent auction.
There will also be plenty of prizes and raffles during the day and night not to mention a great game of footy against the old foes Crookwell.
In the meantime make your way up to the Showground this Saturday to watch your mighty Rovers.
