Performing the official opening on Sunday, Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said the centre would be a boon for Boorowa, creating jobs and making it more affordable for parents to return to work.
“The Federal Government wants to help more families into the workforce by making childcare more affordable, more available and more flexible,” he said.
“And as I’ve seen happen in other smaller centres... long day care brings more families into a community.”
Capital works funding was provided almost 12 months ago to the preschool committee under the Child Care Community Support Programme.
Mr Taylor also announced that the Boorowa Men’s Den would receive $20,000 in funding.
“The Boorowa Men’s Den has a tremendous amount of support from the community, in particular the Bendigo Community Bank and the Hilltops Council,” he said.
