Boorowa Early Education Centre, a 76-place facility, will be up and running by July on the back of a $500,000 Federal grant and plenty of hard work by the local preschool committee.

Centre Manager Sarah Rose said she was in the process of hiring several staff with further employment opportunities as enrolment numbers build.

"We're not just providing a service that the community has really needed for a long time, but it is about providing job opportunities, and we really hope to be able to provide training shifts in the future," she said.

Angus Taylor said the centre would be a boon for Boorowa and district, creating jobs and making it easier and more affordable for parents to return to work.

"The Federal Government wants to help more families into the workforce by making childcare more affordable, more available and more flexible," he said. "And as I've seen happen in other smaller centres in my electorate, long day care brings more families into a community and more income into town."

Capital works funding was provided almost 12 months ago to the preschool committee under the Federal Government's Child Care Community Support Programme.

The Centre will also benefit from the efforts of the local community after $14,000 was raised at a trivia night last weekend.

Boorowa Early Education Centre is now teaming with kids, including two-year-old Henry Simpson, whose mum Penny works in the media.

"Having consistent, reliable and approved childcare will make it much easier for me to go back to contract work," she said.

"I have another little boy Freddie who will be coming here once long day care starts. I'm sure, like Henry, he will love it here too, with the big spaces and plenty of activities."

Centre president Wendy Tuckerman said the funding meant so much to the district.

"We've come a long way in 12 months since this funding was announced. To see all these children here today playing and smiling is the culmination of a lot of hard work by the committee and support from Angus."

Boorowa Early Education Centre will hold its official opening on June 26.
