Milton were winless for the season and cemented firmly to the bottom of the table.
Furthering Milton's problems was that they were low on numbers and had to do a ring around to rustle up some troops at the 11th hour.
This resulted in Boorowa playing below their best as a little bit of complacency crept into their performance.
Despite this they were good enough to win comfortably 33 - 5.
The game started with both teams playing quite conservative rugby.
The forwards from each team were getting great delight in playing tight.
This was intelligent as the day was very hot and the teams new that as the players started to fatigue the game would open up.
Not accustomed to the abrasive salty air of the coast and the blistering hot coastal sun it was Boorowa's defence that started to show cracks first. Assistant coach, Duncan McGrath, had his finger on the pulse and immediately started utilising his bench.
This kept the team fresh and allowed them to play at their best.
Thanks to this Boorowa soon began to win the small battles and then ultimately the war.
Highlights of the match were:
- Vincent Ryan making a try saving boot lace tackle in the early stage of the game.
- Adam Mokatupu scoring Boorowa's first try from 30 metres, despite receiving a blow to the nose moments earlier.
- Shaun Dwyer and Charlie Coles bursting through gaping holes created by the inside backs.
- Dan Carey courageously playing almost 80 minutes despite being concussed in the early stages of the game.
Coach Marty Corcoran was pleased by the win, however was realistic that the team would need to lift their game if they wanted to match it with the best teams in the competition.
Points were as follows: Vincent Ryan 3 points; Mark Poplin 2 points; 1 point Tom Simson; chicks pick Isaak Clarke (voted by his unbiased mother - Meagan Clarke)
Boorowa travels to Taralga this week in what will be a much tougher affair.
