This is a massive step toward for the new look team with Stuart bringing a wealth of experience to the role as well as being a passionate former player and administrator of the local club both at junior and senior levels for many years.
Stuart has previously undertaken a captain coach role of the Rovers in the mid-nineties and he knows what it takes to be competitive in the local competition.
His work ethic as a player was second to none and no doubt he will have the same high standards as a coach.
Stuart has resigned his position as club secretary due to the coaching role but this position is due to be filled by the end of this week with a general meeting held last night.
Meanwhile the team is continuing to train each and every Monday starting at 6.30 pm at the recreation ground and anyone thinking about having a run is more than welcome.
Numbers have been good so far with over 20 players attending training.
It's a long season though and we can never have too many players.
It also takes more than just the players and committee to run a club particularly at home games so if you interested in any role at all, please contact the Rovers committee who will gladly assist you.
A reminder that the Rovers first trial will be held on Saturday, March 19, after which the season launch will take place at the major sponsor venue, the Courthouse Hotel that evening.
Don't forget the Jackpot Joker draw is back each and every Friday night at the Corty with loads of fun at 7pm and big cash to be won.
It's also never too late to get on board as a sponsor in some capacity so please contact the committee if you are interested.
It's the dawn of a new era for your rugby league team so why not be a part of it.
