Preliminary details were released this week during the annual Australia Day Boorowa Balladeers programme.
Coordinator of the Balladeers, Derrick Mason, announced that the Balladeers would join with Boorowa M&D and friends to organise a choir concert in St Patrick's Church, similar to the one conducted last year as part of Boorowa Remembers.
The organisation of the fund-raising concert has been made possible by generous sponsorship from the Boorowa Bendigo Community Bank.
Special thanks were also due to the St Patrick's Parish Council for permission to use the church.
This year's concert will take place on Sunday, April 17 and major proceeds will go to Can Assist, which does wonderful work supporting individuals and families affected by cancer.
Derrick said that the programme will again feature the Australian Rugby Choir, the Southern Cross Choir from Young and the local M&D Choir, with the addition of Gospelfolk, a leading gospel choir from Canberra.
The programme will also include a soloist, soprano Julie O'Conner, whose talent is well known and highly appreciated in the district.
He said that he hoped that the people of the district will support this project, which was being organised to assist a very worthwhile cause.
On behalf of the Balladeers, Derrick presented Can Assist committee representatives with a cheque for $500, which is designed to assist in establishing a major fund raising raffle to be conducted in conjunction with the concert.
