About 70 guests were welcomed into a very well dressed pavilion, which set the mood for an evening of fun, frivolity and some fancy footwork on the dance floor. Mouth watering cocktail style food was enjoyed during the evening's formalities, where Club awards were announced. These included the Roger Birtles Memorial Trophy (Coaches Award) which was taken out by Marty Corcoran, and the Most Improved Award which was won by Mark Poplin. The Patrick Carmody Memorial Trophy for the Best Back went to Brad Rose and the Brad Dewar Memorial Award for the Best Forward was taken out by captain Dane Rowley. The Player's Player award was won by Mark Poplin, and the prestigious Rohan Gorham Memorial Trophy for Best and Fairest 2015 was awarded to Mathew Batt.
The evening saw Club Person of the Year split between two very deserving recipients in Gary Harton and Mike Ward, who have provided great support, time and effort to the rugby club this year.
A highlight of the evening was the announcement of new Life Member, Russell Gorham. Russell's contribution to the Rugby Club extends over many years, from his playing days to his current role as committee member and it was very fitting that such commitment and loyalty was acknowledged. Equally pleasing for the Club was the fact that Russell had no idea that he was being honoured in such a way, and the announcement came as a complete surprise.
Once the evening's formalities drew to a close, the well known local band 'The Phat Boyz' entertained the crowd with a first class performance. The evening was a huge success for the Club with a great night had by all.
