On Saturday Bob was seven shots behind Daniel Bush, but he managed to turn this around on the Sunday to win by two shots with a score of 222 for the 54 holes.
The championship is taken from the gross score and players contested 27 holes on each day.
Ever the bridesmaid Daniel (224) played well but could not replicate Saturday's performance and was rather disappointed with himself, which should not be the case , as both players were well ahead of the rest of the field. The next best was Rick Bennett in 3rd place with 246, in equal 4th was Phil Johnston and Richard Hall with 249, in 6th was Rob Dunwoodie with 255, in 7th Andrew McGrath with 271, in 8th was Simon Pye with 273, in 9th was Ben Howell with 287, and in 10th place was Greg Atkins with 289.
Some players only played on Saturday in match play events of which Brett Watts was victorious over Russell George and Bob Styles beat Tim Good.
The eighteen hole winner for Saturday's Roger Green trophy was Rick Bennett with a score of 59 net from Andrew McGrath on 61 net. In Sunday's eighteen hole winner was again Rick Bennett from Simon Pye who played their match play in conjunction for the Grieg family trophy.
In a close contest Simon Pye was victorious. A special thankyou to Sharon Webster and Corynne Poplin for the weekend catering and Richard Hall and Craig Creely for all the work on the course during the week, which was in wonderful condition for the championship.
Next weekend will be a Saturday of Associates verses Member on Saturday and on Sunday the Rye Park Red Cross Charity Day will take place so come alone for either bowls and golf depending on your choice.
Remember it all happens at the Rec club. Woodie.
