He was born and lived in Boorowa until 1960 when he moved with his family to Canberra at the age of 23.
After leaving school, he worked for a number of years in his family's general store (now the site of "The Pantry on Pudman").
Until 1959, his parents, Charles and Fay Weeden (nee Shelley), also managed the Boorowa Picture Theatre, which showed movies in the then Guild Hall in Marsden Street.
His mother's family were amongst the first settlers in the District. Marsden Street is named after his great, great grand mother, Anna Marsden Hassall (who married William Shelley).
In Canberra, Barry - a qualified accountant - managed the finances of a number of prominent retail businesses before working as an Assistant Bursar at the University of Canberra for almost 25 years.
In Boorowa, he was an active tennis player as well as playing rugby league in the "Barbed Wire Cup".
He was an excellent table tennis player and a dedicated member of the Methodist Youth Fellowship.
In Canberra, he contributed on a voluntary basis to many organisations, being a Life Member of the Red Cross and, for many years, honorary auditor of a number community organisations.
Barry was a loving husband and father and a caring member of his community.
He leaves behind his wife, Jeanette, two daughters (Katrina and Stephanie), two grandchildren (Luke and Louisa) and his brothers, Bruce and David Weeden.
