Have we had some wild days and nights of late, but be thankful, the rain has filled the farm dams, the ground is wet, and with Spring here the farmers can look ahead with some optimism to a good season. Be thankful too, that the wild weather here has been relatively damage free, as other parts of the state have not been so lucky.

Boorowa Community Landcare Group has been informed they are one of three winners in the 'Government Partnership with Landcare' category with their program 'Building Bridges to Boorowa'. One winner will be announced at the State Landcare Conference at Orange 2nd September to go into consideration for success at the National Awards next year. The Boorowa and North Sydney Bushcare Group joint program has been running for 15 years and the visitors are coming again 11th to 13th September to again plant thousands of trees. Hopefully they can also celebrate a win at the Conference on the 2nd.

Boorowa is very fortunate to have Patrick Whale in his role as a Deacon with the Catholic Parish. Patrick is a caring and dedicated individual coming out each and every time he fulfils his role with the Church, but also carries through to his other activities. I've seen him do weddings, funerals, bless events and more, and he always performs his duties with due feeling and compassion.

Boorowa's Irish Woolfest is only one month away. Mel and Janene at the Tourism Office have put out an appeal for business owners to dress up, their shop windows and to think about getting a float ready for the parade. I'm also sure neither of these two hardworking young ladies will knock back any help on offer over the next month, so if you can, let them know on 63851330.

The Australia Day Committee has a meeting set down for Tuesday 8th September, 7.30pm at the Ex-Services Club. Preparation for the 2016 celebration will get into full swing, but the committee invites ideas from the Community and new members are always welcome. Contact myself on any Australia Day matter.
There have been a couple of things on of late that I have found out about too late to promote on Tuesday's 'Through the Streets' radio segment on 2LF or through this column. Don't let opportunity to promote your event pass you by, let me know and I'll tell the world (or at least a small part of it. I finalise this column Sunday evening to forward to The News Monday morning. Deadline for the radio segment is 7ish Monday night.

I don't think you need reminding, but next Tuesday 8th September Boorowa will be without power 8.30am to 3.00pm. Some businesses will be operating on a limited basis providing coffee and such and Boorowa Lions Club will set up the Driver Reviver van offering coffee, tea and a bikie for travellers. I've expressed my angst at Essential Energy for this inconvenience, but where they can, some businesses are displaying Boorowa's resilience.
Mentioning electricity, consider this:
"Benjamin Franklin may have discovered electricity, but it was the man who invented the meter who made the money". (Earl Wilson)
