After 16 years in business Andrew and Carolyn Mitchell have sold their remaining share in Boorowa Real Estate to Justin Fleming and hung up their real estate boots
From humble beginnings in 2000 Andrew and Carolyn worked hard to build a vibrant business that offers a good service to the people of Boorowa and surrounding districts.
"There were a couple of quiet days early on but we got stuck in and helped push the promotion of the town into other areas because we believed Boorowa had great potential for growth, and we still do," Mr Mitchell said.
The Mitchells, with the help of their staff, were focused on sound property management and delivering pleasing sales results for the clients. Out of that focus came a successful local business.
"I think people came on board with us because we were determined to do the job well," Andrew said.
"Over the years we served hundreds of clients from all walks of life and we are hugely grateful for all of their support."
When asked how they felt about retirement, Andrew said it will be a change.
"It feels very strange to leave the business after so many years," he said.
"It's difficult to walk away from something you spent a large part of your life building up.
"We are confident however, that Justin and his team will continue to offer a very good service to the community that we have enjoyed working with over the years."
"The changeover has been very smooth.
"Justin has been doing the vast majority of sales over the last two years and has been heavily involved in the management of the rent roll with Property Manager Suzi Shemon.
"He's a very competent young man with sound real estate knowledge and good rapport with clients."
Justin Fleming now takes over the business with an eye to the future.
With Suzi continuing in the Property Management role and Leanne Corcoran joining the team as Office Manager, he believes the business remains well and truly equipped with trained and capable staff to continue and build on the legacy left by the Mitchell family.
"Like Andrew and Carolyn, we will continue to be focused on doing a good job for our clients and delivering pleasing results, we will continue to do that and the business will continue to be successful," Justin said.
Despite originally coming from Cooma, Justin now considers Boorowa to be his home and he enjoys being a part of the community.
"I've always been very fond of this town since I first worked here as a jackaroo in 2005," Justin said.
"It's a good place to live."
He also looks forward to working with the community in the years to come.
"I've been given a good opportunity and I'm determined to make the most of it by continuing to offer a good service" he said.
"I wish Andrew and Carolyn all the best in their retirement and I thank them for their mentoring and generosity, as well as the wonderful opportunity they have given me."
Justin, Suzi and Leanne are determined to maintain the reputation of Boorowa Real Estate as well as grow and improve the business as they go.
