The under 8s travelled to Wagga this week to take on Temora in some very wet conditions.
After last week's loss with the intern coach on duty, the Coach has finally returned from his mid season hiatus to guide the team to a 34 - 12 thumping of Temora. The team played extremely well in the wet, with special mention going to James Webster who scored a great try in the corner. Harry Dymock, Archie Gay and Jacob Friend all tackled like machines and also bagged themselves a try each. The Pye twins were their usual reliable selves, by not missing a tackle and also scoring run away tries. Isabella Piper was great in her new position as first receiver; giving great passes to her team mates. This week sees the 8s heading off to Junee for the carnival, where the team should get plenty of game time with 3 or 4 games on the day.
Under 9s
The mighty Boorowa Under 9s took on the pride of Wagga rugby league, the Kangaroos, in absolutely appalling conditions last Saturday and came away with a humiliating 48-0 victory.
After starting full of running it only took a few teeth rattling tackles from Jacob Cayfe, Jack McMahon and Harvey Gay before the Kangaroos were looking to hide in the mud, throwing the ball away in a panic by the end of the game. Josh Craig and Lucas Cayfe had their best games of the season, while once again Dan Canellis was dangerous out wide. Due to some absentees and unexplained no shows, under 8s big Archie Gay and the hard hitting Jakeb Friend backed up for their third straight game of the day and didn't let anyone down.
Once again the Bushrangers attacked through their defence, completely intimidating the Kangaroos, which led to plenty of opportunities in attack. And attack they did. With some breath taking ball movement, great support play and just good old fashioned straight, hard running. The boys now look forward to the Junee carnival this Saturday before finishing an outstanding season at Young the following week.
Under 10s League Tag
Our second last game took us to Wagga this week, and what an interesting day it was.
The grounds were very wet and slippery but the girls managed to stay on their feet...mostly.
Emma Craig had another great game scoring a try which she almost put it down on the field next to us.
Imogen Pye was outstanding, as usual, scoring four tries. The girls shared the goal kicking around this week giving everyone a go and a few surprises were discovered with Elle McIntosh and Stephanie Piper both having success.
We also had to borrow a player from Harden, as we didn't have enough girls to fill our side, so thanks goes out to Hayley Hambrook who filled in for us and she also kicked a goal. Job well done girls. Only one more game left for the year in two weeks time in Young. Looking forward to watch the girls bring it home one last time.
