In the Jason Grieg Trophy an American import by the name of Tim Good won with 36 points.
Tim and wife Monica have been away to the States recently and while playing abroad must have picked up a few pointers on how to hit a straight golf ball, good to see Tim back in the winners cycle.
In second place was Bob Styles with third going to Phil Johnston on a count back.
In bowls news the first round of the pairs championship saw Bob Styles and Tim Good, Phil Johnston and Matt Hurst, Barry Arbour and Jeff Summerfield win through to the next round along with Ray Poplin and Russ George making up the group stage.
The singles championship is still underway and needs to be pushed along as the weather has effected scheduling.
So try to finish outstanding games as soon as possible please.
In next weekend's golf and Rec news, the trophy-listed will not be as per the program as Daniel Bush has finished building his house in Canberra this week and gets the keys to move in, so his trophy will be played for a later date.
Instead on the Saturday the Monthly Mug trophy will be played for with the Sunday being freed up for the Rec Clubs Buy, Swap and Sell day that starts at 10am with all welcome to contribute items that need to be freed up around the home, remember your trash is someone else's treasure.
The following weekend being August 1, the Rec Club will be supporting the Boorowa Quick Shear, which will consist of a three-person ambrose golf event played over nine holes followed by lunch and then triples bowls in the afternoon. Cost is $20 per person. If you don't want to play golf you can organise bowls for the full day depending upon numbers whether its triples or pairs. Remember it all happens at the Rec Club. Woodie
