Last week the petition protesting the loss of managed satellite renal unit in Young was tabled in state parliament.
The document travelled to Sydney with state Labor MLC Mick Veitch who said the NSW Health Minister Jillian Skinner now has 35 days to respond in writing to the parliament.
These actions follow copious local protestations at the recent decision to base a managed renal unit in Cowra, but not Young.
Mr Veitch has already made a passionate plea to the parliament just days after the issue was raised at a local council meeting on May.
Mr Veitch made use of his adjournment speech in the NSW Parliament - which is a speech each upper house member gets to make on only a few occasions each year, about any important topic they choose to raise - to talk about the decision not to provide a satellite renal unit to Young.
"The community of Young feels it has been slighted and it deserves an explanation now from this government about what happened," he told parliament.
"The Murrumbidgee Local Health District undertook the planning, which was proved to be affirmative. The planning was in place. The people of Young and the government must discuss why Young missed out. It is terrible," Mr Veitch said.
