It's Ladies Day at the rugby this coming Saturday, July 4, and I must say one of the more prominent days on Boorowa's social calendar.

The ladies will be treated like royalty but most importantly, the charity to benefit will be 6NIL. Maddie and Will Gay aim to raise $250, 000 for Lifeline as they conquer sic mountains in five different countries on four continents, their adventure starting on September 10. Alarmingly, I know personally at least 20 persons who have chosen to end their life in this tragic manner. Maddie and Will want to conquer six mountains but their greatest satisfaction would be to have NIL suicides. Dig deep and support this wonderful day.

I love to see people picking themselves up and getting on with life after personal loss. Boorowa has a wonderful group doing just that, the Esma Berry and Jan Poplin inspired "Merry Widows". This group is meeting again Thursday of next week, July 9, noon at the Town Clock Coffee Chop. Don't sit at home alone, get out of enjoy the company this mercurial group provides. Contact Esma or Jan for more information.

The Hospital Auxiliary are holding a bridal parade of local gowns July 21 at the Ex-Services Club. Gowns are asked to be dropped off at Gail Millynn's by July 8 in order to find appropriate mannequins to model them. Makes me wonder how many brides of yesteryear can model their own gowns today. Maybe we'll see on the 21st.

Irish Woolfest is a mere three months away, but organisation is well in hand. A Food Providers Meeting is set down for Wednesday, July 22, 5.30pm in the Courthouse tea room. This is a great opportunity for local organisations to improve their finances so if your organisation has been a food provider or are only now considering it, don't let the opportunity pass, get along to the meeting and be informed.

Speaking about Woolfest, the organisers are always looking for sponsorship, donations or assistance and I'm sure Mel or Janene in the Tourism office would love to hear from you if you can help.

Sad to hear of the death recently of former Boorowa Central School student Dougal Brett, tragically killed in a helicopter crash in the Northern Territory. Will be remembered by a host of old school mates.

Addressing the Boorowa Business Chamber last week, James Bowman said something to the effect that to develop a successful business, request feedback from your clients and cater to their needs. Seems like good advice to me.

Finally, in the words of Art Linkletter:
"Things turn out best for the people who make the best out of the way things turn out."
