The aroma of wonderful smells greeted all to sample as the competition casseroles were lined up for judging. The guest judge for the evening was Hugh Bowman from Moppity Meats, Boorowa. He had a struggle to decide which casserole was the winning entry. After much deliberation, Louise Baer's Satay Beef was selected as the winner. The People's Choice Award went to Hazel Gardiner's Chicken Curry Casserole. The crowd then sampled the many other casseroles kindly donated by many on the night to warm the soul, which the Frogmore Hall ladies kept nice and hot on a June evening.
As the night was a fundraiser for Nepal Earthquake victims and their livestock, many sideline mini fundraisers were held on the night also. A jam-packed pick of the table raffle of generously donated items, delivered winners fabulous prizes. Both 'Guess How Many Ear Tags in the Jar' and the 'Guess How Many Woolclips in the jar' were won by the true stockman in the room on the night, David Gay.
Darts flew, cattle ear tags turning into cash for one lucky winner Graham Ford, brains racked with how many woolclips and ear tags in the jars and two of Santa's helpers Carmen Thomson and Caroline Mitchell making rounds of the room with raffle ticket books.
MC of the evening, Andrew Mitchell provided a smooth flowing and fun night has by all. His auctioneering skills assisted in raising funds which will be directly delivered via the Department of Primary Industries to the victims of Nepal.
$1605 was raised at the Casserole Night and the organisers of the event say a very big thank you for helping out those less fortunate than ourselves.
Rave reviews are being received from people who attended the fun family evening of a cheap night out and the wonderful food.
