The Boorowa/Harden Caltex U11's Junior League team went down in a close encounter on Saturday versing Tumut at Tumut.
Another slow start and a couple of 50/50 calls going against us cost us the match going down 24-12.
Cooper Cross was great in attack scoring a try and setting up another but his defence was outstanding!
Will Fahey and Beau Abnet were also great in attack and defence racking up quite a tally of tackles. Riley Arabin was solid out wide scoring his first try of the season but I am sure it won't be his last.
Jack Innes, Harrison Hadley and Sam Shea took us forward all day and Dan howard and Elden Rowen had their best game of the year. A special mention to Josh Flick who had his first run at Hooker and proved himself a very handy middle man.
Tries: Cooper Cross, Riley Arabin . Goals: Cooper Cross, Sam Shea
Under 15s
The Boorowa/Harden u15s travelled to Tumut last Saturday and recorded their first victory since the under 12s, winning 18-12.
In glorious conditions the boys attacked strongly and defended well, the new game plan's obviously working, although taking a little time to implement.
Tumut started well and scored early but their over-confidence was to be short lived as the BushHawks realised that they were every bit as good as their opponents and really began to rip in.
The big mean up front laid a great platform with Ryan McMillan, Tyson Ings and Will Goode making great metres in attack and locking up the midfield in defence.
Brady Halls combined tomorrow with a halfback to have another blinder, constantly making breaks and setting up Gus Shea for a try with a cheeky pass between his legs from a dummy half.
'Captain Courageous' Paddy Fahey opened the scoring with a great four pointer and was a constant menace to the Tumut pack, once again getting under their skins with some rugged defence.
Luigi Pollimeni continued his outstanding introduction to rugby league with another five star performance, saving at least four tires with outstanding defence and always a threat with the ball.
Centre Oscar Forsyth always looked dangerous out wide while his tackling is bordering on brutal and complemented the always reliable Laurie Dyer playing on the other side.
Ings and Goode were also rewarded for their hard work and effort counted for nought on the competition table as these were the only nine players that turned up,.
This lead to the BushHawks having to borrow four of Tumuts reserves to make up numbers, thus leading to a forfeit.
All the boys found this extremely frustrating as the borrowed Tumut players contributed little, and all were confident that with a full compliment of players a legitimate win would have still been achieved.
Hopefully with all players on deck that hard-earned win is just around the corner.
