Boorowa made the treacherous trip to the Snowy Mountains on the weekend to take on the formidable Jindabyne Bush Pigs. A long bus trip and a depleted side meant that the Goldies had a tough task ahead of them. Despite this they still had a strong belief that they could cause an upset. Unfortunately it took the Goldies too long to switch on after the long bus trip and they were defeated 52 - 7.

The first half started with Boorowa running into the teeth of a blistering headwind. The Bush Pigs used this to their advantage with some smart kicking, which lead to Boorowa defending their line in the early stages of the match. Despite some courageous defence Jindabyne began turning large amounts of pressure and possession into points. Boorowa had moments of promise where the forwards strung together a number of phases and the backline put on nice set moves, however it seemed the final pass was letting the team down and they couldn't turn these glimpses of brilliance into points. At half time the score was 24 - 0.
The second half started with a piece of individual brilliance from speedster Mark Poplin. From 70 metres out Poplin side stepped 3 of the Bush Pigs players, he then met the next line of defence and put a kick in and the foot race began. Poplin pinned his ears back and quickly hit top speed, the closest Jindabyne player dived on the ball just centre metres from the try line. Poppy had that much inertia built up that he hit the Bush Pig's player like a steam train, the ball popped loose and poppy was quick to pounce on the ball to score. Unfortunately this was a rare highlight for Boorowa as Jindabyne took control of the rest of the match, winning 52 - 7.
Boorowa was gallant in defeat with some great defensive efforts from Vinnie Ryan and Shaun Dwyer who regularly saved tries with text book tackles around the legs. Also of note was the inspiring efforts of stand in captain Justin Fleming who was on the receiving end of some distasteful rugby from the Jindabyne players. Red by hair colour, red by nature, Fleming began running and tackling with aggression. Like the plague this aggression quickly spread through the entire side and for a short period at the end of the game Boorowa had Jindabyne running scared. The outcome of the game would have been completely different if they played with this attitude for the entire 80 minutes.
This week the points were as follows: Vincent Ryan & Matt Batt (1 point), Angus Merriman (1 point) and Digger Crawford (3 points).
Boorowa now has a two-week break before they have their next game against Bungendore at Bungendore.
