Written in 1950, 'A Murder is Announced' is one of Agatha Christie's most loved who-done-its. The play features the unflappable Miss Marple, an elderly spinster with an incredible ability to solve the most complex of crimes.
This is the first time that the local dramatic society has staged an Agatha Christie production and the whole cast know that they will be closely watched by the many fans of Britain's most famous 20th century crime writer and playwright.
"It's quite daunting to be playing such a well-known character in such a famous play", said M&D stalwart Jenny Friend, who has the pivotal role of Miss Marple. "It's a challenge and a delight to bring such an iconic character to local audiences", she continued.
Jenny will be joined on stage by an ensemble cast that features a mixture of experienced M&D performers including Cassandra Bird, Craig Drayton, Bonnie Keys, Will Lazarou, Richard Neate, Bianca Riggio, Lawrance Ryan and Robyn Ryan; and newcomers Richard Eggleston, Holly Proctor and Marion Speechley.
Tickets for 'A Murder is Announced' are available at the Cowra Visitor Information Centre. The price is $45 for adults and $40 concession.
The ticket price includes dinner, tea and coffee. Beer, wine and soft drinks will be available for purchase. All tickets must be pre-booked.
