Riding high on the sheep's back after celebrating 26 years last year, the competition is just growing from strength to strength.
With 13 teams entered for a one day show of judging, the day was set for interaction, humour and education.
Over 75 people attended throughout the day. The bus was full in the morning, along with up to 10 motor cars following behind.
The judges were very impressed with the quality of all the entrants, acknowledging that this has been one of the most trying seasons we have experienced.
All entrants are to be congratulated, along with the committee and sponsors.
"It was an absolutely fantastic day for everyone involved," chief steward Rick Power said.
"We had three new entrants enter the competition this year, which was really exciting as two out the three have made the top five finalists. Wool growers are really starting to see value in this competition. It is really a day of education, along with interaction from others' life experiences and general knowledge about the Merino industry.
"Our sponsors see value too, and join us for the day's judging. They find it really interesting and feel that this is a very special competition like no other in the South West Slopes. Where else can you travel around in air conditioned coach and see people's properties and their quality Merino flocks along with a very social day of interaction and learning?"
The committee wishes to extend a big thank you to the major sponsors: ANZ Banking Young, Corkhill's Ag Supplies, Bromar Engineering Grenfell and the Courthouse Hotel Boorowa.
To all other sponsors: thank you very much for your generosity and kindness.
All major presentations will be made at the Boorowa Show on Saturday, March 7.
The overall winner will be announced, along with the Joyce Mason Encouragement award, Spring Waters dual purpose award, Australian Wool Network top 10 per cent, people's choice award and the Desley Newell quilt raffle.
The top five Merino flocks for 2015 are (in no particular order):
AJ & LM Croker "Willowdale" Rugby
PC McGrath and Sons "Clearview" Boorowa
ST & L Jarvis "Heathfield" Boorowa
Bill Hurley "Old Killenear" Boorowa
