That’s how our 2015 Australia Day ambassador, Gretel Killeen describes Boorowa after visiting earlier in the week.
The television presenter, stand-up comedian and author was on hand on Australia Day to congratulate the award winners and to chat to the large crowd.
The day kicked off with breakfast in Recreation Park before the official ceremony and community awards.
Tom Merriman was the Junior Ambassador, while Boorowa Central School captains Alex Blomfield and Michael Hinds emceed.
There was plenty of action on the cards, with fishing, bowls and golf a hit with both the locals and blow-ins.
Boorowa’s Lions Club were on hand cooking a barbecue while all eyes were on the pond as Boorowa Rotary’s renowned rubber duck races made a splash.
The Boorowa Balladeers sounded out the afternoon, with a characteristically cheeky performance.
Ms Killeen said she had enjoyed her time in Boorowa.
“I’ve loved being here today and meeting all the different people. I’ve met a great diversity of characters and some really unique people and they’re all really accepting. This is a real community,” Ms Killeen said.
