Pip Merriman won a $250 to spend at Three Wishes and Rosalyn Roberts picked up the second voucher to be used at Boorowa Pharmacy. Both Pip and Rosalyn won the vouchers to be spent at the shop they had entered the vouchers in.
Cooper Downey and Jordan Grimson were the winners of the children's Christmas colouring-in competition, each winning an Arty Farty paint-it-yourself ceramic and paint set.
A Boorowa News initiative, the competition saw shoppers who spent $30 or more at Moppity Meats, JD's Hardware and Rural Supplies, Corkhill's Ag Services, Boorowa Caltex Service Station, Boorowa Pharmacy or Three Wishes Boutique go in the running to win a combined $500 in vouchers.
More than one thousand vouchers were collected, with Mayor Wendy Tuckerman highlighting the welcome boost it brought to Boorowa businesses.
"It was a fantastic initiative to encourage the community to shop local and highlight the benefits of doing so," she said.
"You've got to use it or lose it."
While she applauded all shoppers and businesses who got involved, Cr Tuckerman reminded the community to support local industry year round.
"It's not only the festive season that we should be supporting local business- it's all year round," she said.
"We're lucky to be a community reaping the benefits of having a choice in terms of shopping locally."
