Despite several periods of light to moderate rainfall, inflows into Boorowa Water Supply Weir pool have been very modest and offset by the relatively high water consumption by the community.

Since the introduction of Level 1 water restriction on the 20 November 2014, 14.8 megalitres of water has been used compared to an expected usage of approximately 9.5 megalitres based upon the target Level 1 consumption of 260 litres per person per day. The level of the weir pool has reached the trigger to move to Level 2 water restrictions, which will be in place from the 16 December 2014. Council is asking the community to abide by the restrictions and remain conscious of water consumption at all times. Boorowa Council Mayor Wendy Tuckerman further explained what Council is asking of the community.
"We have just reached the level 2 water restrictions trigger and expect that as the weather warms up people will naturally want to use water. It is extremely important that the community abides by the restrictions to avoid a situation where our supply becomes dangerously low rapidly." She said.
Level 2 restrictions and targets are as follows:
Watering of gardens and lawns 6am to 9am and 6pm to 9pm every second day on odds and evens scheme, Irrigation of new turf up to one week after laying, washing down walls or paved surfaces not permitted, topping up private swimming pools/spas 7am to 9am and 6pm to 8pm, washing cars allowed with bucket and rinse with trigger hose on lawn between 9am and 12 noon, use of evaporative air conditioners as needed, first fill of private swimming pools only between hours of 7am-9am and between 6pm-8pm every day.
Target water consumption is 240 litres per person, per day.
Notes:
1. Odds and Evens Scheme relates to the house number being either an odd or even number, and taking turns on alternative days for the nominated water use. The cycle starts with even numbered house on the first day of water restrictions.
2. Water restrictions relate only to water sourced from the town supply. Alternative water supplies (i.e. rainwater, bore water, etc) are not impacted.
