The event was hosted from 21 to 23 November at the historical Old Errowanbang Woolshed at Carcoar, NSW.
The team from Boorowa competed against participants from every state in Australia as well as from overseas. This included the best shearers, blade shearers and wool handlers in the wool harvesting industry. It was tough competition for all men and women at the championships.
Boorowa was the only small rural town who was represented in all sections of the shearing and wool handling events. Mark Poplin and Stephen Cartwright represented Boorowa in the Novice Shearing Section, while Peter Croker, Joe Anderson, Andrew Ford and Brad Flannery were participants in the Intermediate Shearing Section.
Ben Gorham represented Boorowa in the Senior Shearing Section and Brent Armour competed in the Open Shearing Section.
Sally Armour performed well representing Boorowa in the Novice Wool Handling Section.
Joe Anderson was the stand out performer of the day making it to the semi-finals, and competing against the best 12 shearers in the Intermediate Shearing Section.
The Boorowa team enjoyed the weekend showcasing their outstanding ability to shear with pride. All members of the team, particularly Wool Handler Sally Armour received encouraging and positive comments from the judges.
The Boorowa team received plenty of support from Boorowa locals who travelled to spectate at the Carcoar event. Robert Croker, Chief Boorowa Show Shearing Steward was the team's number one supporter.
By providing wool harvesting scholarships to local students, the Boorowa Wool Harvesting Association Inc. recognises the importance of the wool harvesting industry.
Through providing more opportunity for students to enter the wool industry and develop their skills, we can support competitions such as the National Shearing Championships and provide future participants.
The Boorowa Wool Harvesting Association would also like to congratulate Ian Elkins on his recent induction into the Shearing Hall of Fame at Hay (NSW).
This is such an excellent achievement, congratulations Ian.
