A big turn out of players lined up for the two games on Saturday against Far South Coast and the Barbarians and entertained a good roll up of local spectators who made the journey across. The Over Rovers displayed an exciting brand of football which combined solid defence with adventurous attack.
Lee Millyn showed he has lost none of his timing with some solid defence while Vince Leslie, Ross Hignett, Nathan McCracken and Stuart Gay kept making the hard yards up the middle. With Nathan Taylor giving good service from dummy-half Todd Gurney, Shane Picker, Steve Barnes and Jason Corkery were able to organise the attack well and utilise the speed men out wide.
Pat Downey, Robbie Summerfield, Chris McIntosh, Chris Howlett and Jay Taylor proved hard to handle out wide and were a constant threat.
Matt Harry provided possibly the highlight of the carnival when he lost a 'bomb' in the sun and recorded a classic, (almost fatal) 'falcon'.
Sam McGuinnes was a late inclusion and didn't let anyone down with a non-stop effort up front.
Another highlight of the week-end was the selection of Nathan Taylor and Stuart Gay in the inaugural Country representative side which took on City on Sunday.
Both Boorowa boys excelled with Nathan having a try controversially disallowed while Stuart brushed aside the City defence on a 30 metre dash to score the Country sides only try for the match.
The boys then took on the Young Yabbies in a game where Rick Power really shone, to keep their undefeated record in tact.
The week-end was greatly enjoyed by all who played and spectators alike with everyone keen to back up again next year.
The Over Rovers are so keen to get back on the paddock that plans are afoot to host their own 'mini Masters Carnival' next March, anyone interested in sponsoring this event or just wishing to be involved should simply contact one of the boys.
The Over Rovers MRLFC would like to thank their generous sponsors for their support in 2014; Ram and Stallion Hotel, Court House Hotel, FnF Shearing Contractors, Boorowa bobcat and tipper hire, Landmark Boorowa, Taylor Made Refrigeration and AL Banks Builder.
Over Rovers undefeated, bring on next year.
