Eleven community groups in the Boorowa area have received grants as part of the Boorowa Community Grants program, totalling $65,806.

Chairman of Boorowa Financial Services - the company which operates the Boorowa Community Bank - Sue Corcoran said the grants would be used to carry out improvements and projects which would benefit the entire Boorowa community.

“This year’s grants ranged from $1600 to $18, 986,” Mrs Corcoran said.

Other grant recipients include:

? - Boorowa Men’s Den - $4795 for metal crafting;

- ? Rye Park Showground Trust - $2450 for an electrical upgrade of the main pavilion;

 -? Boorowa Lions Club - $1600 for the provision of a laptop and printer;

?- Boorowa Preschool - $3468 for an outdoor play kitchen;

? - Boorowa RSL Sub Branch - $13, 208 for the commemorative memorial tree grove;

? - Yass Valley Men’s Shed - $3174 for their computer and internet program;

? - Greenlight Lead On /Motorvation - $4125 for a driving simulator bus for Boorowa learner drivers.

Challenge Grants recipients include:

?- Binalong Mechanics Institute - $4000 for restoring the kitchen floor;

?- Boorowa Hostel Inc - $10, 000 for a solar panel system.

Since opening in 2001, Boorowa Community Bank has returned more than $400, 000 to the Boorowa community.

“We were very impressed with the quality of applications received and are delighted to be able to support a range of projects, many of which may not have been financially viable without the support of our Community bank branch,” Mrs Corcoran said.

Administered by Community Enterprise Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Bendigo and Adelaide Bank, the eighth Boorowa Community Grants program received a large number of applications with more than 13 organisations seeking funding for projects.

“The partnership with the foundation enables local community organisations to share in our success,” Mrs Corcoran said.

“We aim to support accessible and valued community services and partnerships leading change which strengthen and unite our community.”
