The Boorowa Australia Day committee looks forward to celebrating Australia Day next year, a significant milestone in Australia's history. At our meeting held Tuesday of last week, Rod Short attended, enabling the committee to consider ways of involving cadets in our ceremony. Rod's enthusiasm and cadet management should make an impression on the day and promote strong emotions for the months leading up to Anzac Day.

All in all, preparations for Australia Day 2015 are progressing well, but the committee welcomes input from the community with regards to activities, problems, new ideas and possible award recipients. Janene Hurley or Judy Ford are very accessible and happy to receive your thoughts.
Generous donations
The committee is thrilled to receive two very generous donations enabling the perspective on what we can and can't do to enhance our celebration. It is with great appreciation we thank the Court House Arts and Crafts Coop and Boorowa IGA through their community chest program for donations of such generous proportions.
Area of concern
The Australia Day committee was alarmed to hear the future of Apex in Boorowa was very doubtful due to lack of members. Apex provide breakfast in the park on Australia Day, cater for Carols by Candlelight, do Driver Reviver, organise Boorowa Citizen of the Year an perform many other valuable roles in our community. If the club folds it will leave a huge hole in what we as a community have taken for granted. It is hoped they survive but they need help so if you're under 45 years of age ( preferably well under), or if you've got a bit of time to help out your community think about giving Apex a go - contact Jacqueline Chown or Debra Barclay for information.
Into the future
This scribe will endeavour to keep you up-to-date with events as they come to hand, we especially look forward to discovering who our Australia Day ambassador will be and you will be told as soon as we know. As said earlier, we, the committee, look forward to any input from you that will help us to improve on our celebration or recognise another hard-working community member. Everyone is invited to attend our meetings which are scheduled for the second Tuesday of November, December and January at 7.30pm at the Ex-Services Club.
Sport awards
Nomination forms are out and available from Janene Hurley at the tourism office, IGA or myself (John Snelling). All sporting organisations, including clubs and schools, should receive forms but often contacts are unknown. Let Janene know your contact on 6385 1330 and we'll ensure you receive a form. Please note, you don't have to be associated with a sporting group to nominate someone, individuals may be aware of someone worthy of a nomination so don't let t he chance go by.
The committee thanks Boorowa for its support of Australia Day and it's now January 26, 2015, we look forward to.
- John Snelling, Chair Boorowa ADC
