On behalf of the club I would like to congratulate each and every player this year for the way you have all represented your towns as well as all the parents that have made our clubs run so successfully this year. Without your help our club wouldn't survive so I thankyou for volunteering and giving up your time whether it was selling raffle tickets, working on the canteens, ground managers, first aid or helping setup and packing up grounds.
I also ask that you all think about joining our small committee next year, with more people on the committee it will lighten the work load for everyone.
See you all on September 20 for presentation day 10am at the high school hall, with a barbeque to follow in the school grounds. Hope to see you all there.
Round 14 Harden / Boorowa V Coota 23-8-14
The Boorowa / Harden Twin Town Times U/6s on Saturday played their last game of the season on what was a beautiful sunny day on Tim Doolan oval with the little ones looking the part with all wearing pink socks for our fundraising can assist day. The team left their best for last. With plenty of fresh faces getting a meat pie on the day, the improvement from the whole side was well on show in this game with Jacqlyn Rigg shaking off her boy phobia to stroll through the lacklustre defence to run almost untouched to score her first try ever but she was not alone with big robust Aleks Cummins powering his way through the young Bulldogs line to score a barnstorming try that Glen Lazarus would be proud of and the points just kept coming with Landon smiley Vasquez scoring a freakish try going from side to side and seemed to have floated above some would be defenders on his way to his maiden try with some dazzling speed and footwork. Little Will James continued his point scoring spree of late with another meat pie for the year but they were not alone with Thomas Woodhead continuing his recent form with some excellent defence and he ate plenty of metres in attack and was unlucky not to get a meaty on the day other players Declan Kerrison and Dan Minehan were tireless in defence and attack and had to be with their leader Jayden Steele battling the dreaded flu all week and somehow to his parents surprise got out of bed keen to take the field but unfortunately for Jayden and his team mates his body just wasn't up to his normal standard and he barely got into second gear. The little ones need to hold their heads up high and as coach I'm very proud to see the improvement in the whole side and I look forward to seeing their names up in lights in the future, well done guys I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching each and every one of you and wish you all the best for the future. Also a huge thankyou to all the parents who have helped me through the year. P.S see you on Thursday at Boorowa park for preseason training haha
Under 7s
The Boorowa / Harden Ceeney's, Supa IGA, Hurley's Excavator Hire and West Corner Cafe U/7s also played their last game of the year in extra extraordinarilygreat conditions at Tim Doolan oval. I must say the team looked the part in their pink socks and in my opinion they should play in them every week with their best performance of the year. Just like the 6s it was raining meat pies with the diminutive James Webster scoring his first try of the year however if you ask James he already had a meaty this year. Tries kept coming with Delilah Cross scoring a scintillating try and one you had to be there to watch. Unfortunately mum and dad Cross missed it but I'm sure the very proud and excited Lilah described it to a T. Boston Kerrison scored a very smart try shaping to go to the open before showing some quick footwork down the short side to put it down in the corner. Archie Gay continued his efforts for the year scoring a double with a couple of long range efforts and Harry the Flying Dymock showed the after burners to continue his recent form with a couple of speedy tries down the side. The much improved Will Rigg as usual tackled his heart out all game and made some good runs. Alongside him was his namesake Will Glover who decided the best way for him was to use his nuggetty size and power through the middle of the young Bulldogs pack and made plenty of inroads doing just that and with the much taller Christian Johnson who done likewise may form an unusual pairing in the front row in years to come. Some may say they look like twins Devito and Arnie. Through the year these guys have improved and come such a long way, I'm very proud to have played a small part in their development as footballers and wish them all the best for the future. Also a huge thank you to all the parents who have helped me through the year. See you all for preseason training at Boorowa on Thursday. Well I'm afraid the end has come for this year I hope you all have enjoyed reading my little spin each week.
Under 9s
The Boorowa / Harden Delta mighty under 9s finished the 2014 season on a high winning both games against a very physical Cootamundra side. The boys played fabulous footy, displaying all the skills they have learnt at training throughout the year. There was some text-book tackling from Rory McGrath, Callum Stewart and Logan Mears. The two Fergs both scored brilliant tries. Ned Hufton played a terrific first game only to sit the second match out after a very solid knock. Beau Ferry continually ran hard and straight. Hugh Squire-Wilson regularly made several metres every time he was given the chance. Joe Prosper ran players down and tackled ferociously. Hamish Minehan once again proved that size does not matter, playing a consistently strong game. Aiden Hill scored a superb try leaving several Cootamundra players in his wake. Harrison Campbell and Jesse Glover both contributed to the points through perfect kicking. There were lots of tears and a few stints in the sinbin but the boys can all hold their heads up high for playing on against a relentless Cootamundra who fought on to the final bell. It is a shame the season has come to an end as the boys are just beginning to play consistently good football. A very big thankyou to all the parents who support the team by driving the boys to and from training and games. Bring on 2015 and the Under 10s!
Under 10s
The Boorowa / Harden Carrington Hotel U/10s League tag girls confidently ended the season on a high against Cootamundra on the weekend. In the first game Marnie Halls scored an impressive three tries to put us ahead in the game. Cootamundra came out strong in the second third proving they were a hard team to beat but single tries from Hunter Ings, Coralie Vasquez and Hayley Hambrook put us in the lead and on the way to victory. The girls defence line was strong and tags were taken with perfection. Tags by Georgia Squire-Wilson and Ellie McMahon held Temora off causing Boorowa/Harden to win the game. The second game took off with Cootamundra scoring straight off the whistle. The girls co-operation as a team and hard work in defence by Katie O'Connor and Josie and Maddi Chard held Coota off the scoreboard. Imogen Pye scored three tries throughout the game with the help of her fellow teammates. Two more courageous tries from Ella Cross and Hunter Ings put the girls on the scoreboard to win 24-0. Both teams were extremely excited to end the season with two wins, something we have been able to do all season. I commend the girls on their efforts throughout the season. I have watched them grow into confident players and I hope they continue to play in the coming years.
The Harden / Boorowa Court House Hotel and Caltex U10s Junior League team had their final game last Saturday against Cootamundra. Needing a big win to make the semis the boys started like men possessed, scoring a converted try after two minutes. Another should have followed a minute later but the confusing set-up of a mod field on a full-sized field saw our strong running front rower score over the dead ball line. Cootamundra pounced on their first opportunity with the ball scoring three tries before the break. The second half was an even affair going end for end with drop outs and players held up over the line for each team. Both teams ended up scoring one try a piece in the second stanza to make the final score 20-12. Tries: Harrison Hadley, Cooper Cross Goals: Cooper Cross, Richard Kelly. Every player played well, as they have all year giving their all on game day and at training making the coaches life very easy. A big thankyou must go out to all the parents who washed jumpers, ran water, helped out at training, scored games, gave points, helped at home games and finally giving their children a chance to play the greatest game of all.
Under 11s
The Boorowa/Harden Coopers Butchery and Piesly Transport U/11s played there final game of the season against Cootamundra on Saturday producing a gutsy effort going down 18-6 the boys showed guts in defence with Jai Allison and Josh Gurney leading the way in attack Sam Corkhill played his best game of the year. The side's only try came from Anthony Brown who continued to improve with every game. A Big thankyou to all the parents who washed guernsey's and gave me help when it was required a massive thankyou.
Under 13s
Boorowa / Harden Automotive, Jackson Bakery and Harden Country Club U/13s League Tag side played their last home game of the year on the weekend against the Cootamundra Bulldogs in the final round of the season. The girls again like the previous two weeks got off to a slow and nervous start but didn't let that stop them after applying some pressure Beth O'Connor finally split them to score first points with the conversion successful the girls lead at halftime 10-0. In the second half the girls continued on their way working well together as a team and were rewarded when Emilie Quinn took full advantage to score another try this season the conversion again missed. Alyssa Brown crossed the line last but not least to score herself a meat pie the conversion again was unsuccessful the score was 18-0 which ended up being the final score. It was a great team performance and great to see our younger and less experienced girls building confidence and hitting form at the the right end of the year leading into the semis next weekend against Temora for a spot in the Grand Final. Good luck girls for the finals you have played well all year and and you deserve a shot to defend your premiership! Also good luck to the under 16s League tag side on Saturday in your do or die semi-final.
Under 14s
The Boorowa / Harden U/14s Brown Farming, Piesley transport and Coopers Butchery on Saturday was our last game of the yearand we didn't start well with Coota scoring a try with in the first minute. This was going to be a long day. With the score being 76-6 there were moments they showed they can still play the game and take it to a dominating team. Well done team for the big effort and Lochie for his first try and Nick for converting. Thankyou to everyone that helped through the season doing scoring, picking points, running the water etc. Hopefully next year you will have a better year. I am proud of the effort that you put in all season.
