This project will involve the establishment of a tree memorial grove in Dr Kelf Park, with a new paved area centred on the lone pine to provide a visual connection between the lone pine and the existing war memorial.
The Boorowa Remembers Committee has been involved in the planning of the project and a spokesman said this week that his members are pleased with the way it has progressed, to the point where it will now become a reality.
"Our committee has been working hard for quite some time to ensure that our community recognises in a lasting way, the sacrifices that were made for us so long ago," he said.
"This project is a true community partnership, with a number of groups involved and supporting the project."
The project also involves new sections of footpath that will connect with existing footpaths as well as formalising and sealing a car park at Dr Kelf Park that will be kerb and guttered.
The project will provide a much needed lift for the park, which has been worn down by traffic over a period of time.
"We are really pleased to be able to link both the ANZAC Centenary and much needed improvements to Dr Kelf Park," said Boorowa mayor Wendy Tuckerman.
