Last Saturday we played our last home game for the year. Well done to the volunteers and committee members for the hard work you all put in on Saturday and throughout the year at our other home games.
Raffle books should be all sold and handed in to the respective coaches so we can finalise the raffle ready for the presentation. The Presentation is the 20th September at the Harden Country Club commencing at 10am. Our final game is this Saturday in Harden against Coota.
These games could determine who will make it to the semi's, so good luck to all teams that are pushing to make the semi's.
The Boorowa / Harden Twin Town Times U/6's
The Boorowa / Harden Twin Town Times U/6's played two games against the Temora Dragons at a pleasant sunny Boorowa and in the first game there were many chances for scoring created through strong runs from Jayden Steele and Thomas Woodhead but the little ones had trouble containing the Dragons free flowing football going down 24-0.
The second game was a completely different story though with the little ones hyper and took the field running with Jayden Steele playing a superb hand in attack and defence and not far behind was the ever improving Thomas Woodhead who of late is a completely different player.
They were not alone with the little terrier Daniel Minehan not afraid to get in amongst it with the much bigger Dragons side. Dan put his body on the line to save a try and you couldn't wipe the smile off his face.
Jacob Gledhill when on the field made some good runs and tackles, with cousin Jacqlyn Rigg keen to play but was a little gun shy to tackle the boys and run the ball, but after the coach had been constantly asking her to have a run she came to the party and made a huge run down field.
Little Will also kicked a goal surprising everyone with the ball seemingly destined to go under the crossbar however the footy gods intervened with a huge gush of wind lifting the ball over the crossbar with witnesses saying it was like someone had picked the ball up and threw it over the posts, however referee Shane Cross would have none of it blowing his whistle to award the 2 points.
In other highlights Jayden Steele starved of tries in the first game really stepped up with a hatrick of tries in the second game with one try worthy of the highlights reel making not only his coach but the whole opposition and ref dizzy as he weaved from sideline to sideline to score under the sticks but unfortunately his mother was gas bagging on the side line and was unable to capture it on video. Jayden also kicked a goal to cap off his best game of the season. The little ones going down 24-20 in a much improved performance.
The Boorowa / Harden Ceeney's, Supa IGA, Hurley's Excavator Hire and West Corner Cafe U/7's
The Boorowa / Harden Ceeney's, Supa IGA, Hurley's Excavator Hire and West Corner Cafe U/7's played two games at a great footy day at Boorowa with the side missing a few players including their tackling and try scoring machine Archie Gay.
It was up to someone to step up and Harry Dymock didn't disappoint living up to his nick name, the flying Dymock. The flying Dymock was superb in attack with some scintillating runs and copy book legs tackles and a number of try savers. The coach hadn't seen form from Harry like this since the start of the season and it was pleasing to watch however he was helped by the big, tall rangy Christian Johnson who also chewed up plenty of metres in attack and also made some crucial tackles.
James Webster tried hard in defence and the diminutive Webster ran with plenty of courage. Will Glover showed some promise in his only game with Will needing to get to Canberra to watch his beloved Dragons dismantle the Raiders and that they did.
Delilah Cross played well with some great runs and tackles but after helping out the 6's earlier she had run out of petrol. Jayden Steele as usual backed up playing 4 games and although tired still made some good runs and tackles. Harry Dymock Capped off a great return to form with a three try haul and Jayden Steele continued his scoring feats scoring one. With the side going down 22-8 and with the help of the 8's were able to get an 8 all draw in the 2nd game.
The Boorowa / Harden Delta mighty under 9's
The Boorowa / Harden Delta mighty under 9's lined up against the Temora dragons on Saturday and it would be fair to say we had a tough day at the office.
Unfortunately for all the good work that was done it would be undone by some poor defence. The effort was excellent from all who played and it should be noted that although we were well beaten we still scored 9 tries for the day. Best on the day were Hamish Minehan who tackled all day, Callum Stewart who bagged another try, a late arriving Beau Ferry and Ferg Mullen. Next week it is our last game against Cootamundra and it would be good to see a top end to the season with a win. Training is at Boorowa and the game is at Harden.
The Boorowa / Harden Carrington Hotel U/10's League Tag
The Boorowa / Harden Carrington Hotel U/10's League Tag girls' team played two games on the weekend and each one of the girls should be proud of their efforts. Ella Cross in the first game scored our first try weaving in and out of her opponents eventually making it through the defence under the posts.
The girls held off Temora in their strong defence positions with great tags made by Maddi Chard and Molly Glover. In the second half Marnie Halls made a break through the centre of Temora's well placed defence and scored a well-earned try, followed by a great conversion.
The score ended 20-10 to Temora however the girls battled hard all game. The second game saw some great runs by all girls on the field. As has been the case in most games our pocket rocket Imogen Pye broke through Temora's defence several times, unlucky not to score in this game. Maddison Johnson and Jasmin Morton made some fantastic tags in the last 10 minutes of the game but unfortunately Temora came out strong scoring four tries to make the score 18-4. It was a great day had by all and I am so proud of the improvement of all the girls.
The Boorowa/Harden Coopers Butchery and Piesly Transport U/11's
The Boorowa/Harden Coopers Butchery and Piesly Transport U/11's put on a spirited and much improved performance on Saturday against the Temora dragons with an 18 all draw. Everyone played great with Matt Canellis the standout scoring all of the sides three tries. The boys travel to Harden this Weekend looking to finish of the season on a high against Coota.
Boorowa / Harden Automotive, Jackson Bakery & Harden Country Club U/13's League Tag
Boorowa / Harden Automotive, Jackson Bakery & Harden Country Club U/13's League Tag side headed off to Boorowa to take on the Temora dragons in the grand final rematch from last year.
The second half saw the girls come out firing again with great team work in both attack and defence but then from a dropped ball and a bit of refereeing confusion a Temora girl swooped on the ball to run half the field to score with the conversion successful Temora took the lead 6-4.
Our girls were still positive running the ball up strong and making some great tags! Then Alyssa Brown made a great run up the middle to score what would be a disallowed try. The girls were still on top at this point and Emilie Quinn took on the line stepping and weaving her way through the defence to score the match winning try with the final score ending up 8-6.
It was a great team performance and was also there best game so far and they seem to be coming good at the right end of the season, they are looking forward to playing their last game of the year this weekend against Coota at home, before starting finals in the coming weeks!
Under 16 League Tag
The score 34 to 8 was no indication on just how hard the girls kept in the hunt for the two points. Charlie and Georgia were the only scorers, unfortunately no goals.
